Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Social Work, Social Group Work Laboratory: Laboratory Safety Guidelines
1. PURPOSE: These guidelines have been drawn up to set out the safety and usage rules that must be observed in the Social Group Work Laboratory, located within the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Gazi University, and during meetings, lessons and activities held in this environment.
2. SCOPE: These guidelines cover the use of the Social Group Work Laboratory belonging to the Department of Social Work.
3. DEFINITIONS: There are no specific terms requiring definition in this guideline.
4. RESPONSIBLE PARTIES: The Head of Department, Deputy Heads of Department, laboratory supervisor (or room supervisor), academic staff and research assistants, administrative staff and students.
5. IMPLEMENTATION
5.1. GENERAL RULES TO BE OBSERVED IN LABORATORIES
5.1.1. GENERAL RULES
• Laboratories are environments that require serious and careful work. All staff and students must comply fully with the rules.
• Work procedures and safety rules must be read carefully before entering the laboratory.
• Eating, drinking, speaking loudly, and using mobile phones in a distracting manner are not permitted.
• Equipment such as tables, chairs and projectors must be used with care and diligence.
• After the session, chairs and tables must be left in an orderly manner; rubbish and personal belongings must not be left behind. • Windows must not be left open; ensure they are closed before leaving the room.
• Ensure that all equipment is switched off and unplugged after use.
• Everyone must share responsibility for the cleanliness and tidiness of the room.
5.1.2. ORGANISATION AND ORDER
• Tables and chairs must be positioned so as not to obstruct exit routes.
• Ensure that fixed items such as cupboards and noticeboards are securely fitted.
• Frequently used materials should be kept in easily accessible areas.
• The general order of the venue must not be disrupted; it must be restored to its original state after each user.
• After use, all tables and chairs must be left clean, and any materials used must be returned to their original places.
• Rubbish bins must be emptied regularly, and recyclable waste must be separated.
• Air conditioning, projection and lighting systems must be switched off when not in use.
