 QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PLAN -2024 -1

IMPROVEMENTS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WORK

Leadership, Governance and Quality

  • To ensure that decisions regarding improvements aimed at increasing our students’ satisfaction are made in collaboration with them, we have secured our students' participation in a survey designed to address items on the Student Satisfaction Survey that scored below 50 per cent.

Education and Teaching

  • The course coded ISG102, which can be taken in place of the mandatory Occupational Health and Safety Certificate required for students undertaking the Summer Placement and Clinical Practice modules, was added as a Faculty-wide elective during the add-drop period, and students in the Department were informed of the opportunity to enrol on this course. This course, which will continue to be offered in the autumn and spring semesters of subsequent academic calendars, will not count towards the 240 ECTS credits required for graduation, nor will it be included in students’ AGNO. Once taken, the course is valid for one year and may be used in lieu of the Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Taking this validity period into account, students who wish to do so can select the course with code ISG102 by clicking the first-year autumn curriculum.
  • The necessary procedures have been initiated in accordance with the ‘Examination Regulations for Academic Staff’, ‘Examination Regulations for Students’ and ‘Archiving Regulations’ as set out in Faculty Council Decision No. 2025/03-01.
  • The ‘Principles for the Practical Components of Social Work Courses’ have been drawn up regarding the practical components of the SHB 403 Social Work Practice I and SHB 404 Social Work Practice II courses, which are delivered by the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Gazi University. In this regulation, the Practical Training Process, Practical Training Settings and Organisations, Expectations During the Practical Training Process, Students’ Responsibilities, the Role and Responsibilities of the Educational Supervisor, and the Assessment and Monitoring processes have been clearly specified and documented.

Research and Development

  • The target indicators allocated to our department under the Faculty’s Research University Indicator Targets for 2025 have been assigned to the department’s academic staff.
